YOUR POPULAR QUESTIONS

You have got networking sites for showing off your social life and professional achievements.

How about a profile that could validate your knowledge and skills?

That’s EnGrip.

Essentially, it is an online application that powers your professional career growth with a sharable knowledge profile. With EnGrip, you can chronicle, organize, and showcase your online learning experiences in a reliable and effortless manner.

Let’s say, you are professional who enrolls a course that would help you move ahead in your career. Or, you are a student pursuing graduation. If you are really passionate about the subject you learn, you are not going to simply rest with reading merely the textbooks.

If you have a burning desire to excel in your profession, you will search for information. Visit libraries. Hunt bookstores. Network with mentors and experts. Spend hours discussing with your friends and colleagues.

Luckily, today all these traditional ways of learning happens through the Internet. In fact, most of the learning nowadays happens in front of your desktop or laptop.

If you could create an authentic repository of your learning experiences, it would serve as an ACTUAL reflection of your KNOWLEDGE. In other words, the hours you spend researching, reading, discussing, participating about your subject interest will testify your knowledge.

Because your resume or professional network profiles doesn’t entirely showcase your subject expertise in an elaborative manner. It simply sums up your skills. But it doesn’t serve as an identity of the vast knowledge you gained over the years.

Also, the efforts you put everyday to gather information and master a subject is not even recognised anywhere.

Now Enter EnGrip Profile.

You have an authentic way to chronicle your online learning experiences. From watching videos to reading blogs to online forum discussing, you can document everything relating to your subject interest in a credible and super-easy manner. So that you make even your seemingly casual learning activities count for your professional growth.

Amazing, right?!

Easy breezy!

  1. Sign up for a free EnGrip account with your email or social media profile. Yes, it’s totally free!
  2. Install our hassle-free & uber-smart EnGrip Extension on your browser of choice.
  3. Create learning projects based on your interests, and start chronicling your learning experiences as and when you like it.

Sure.

Once you are onboard, you can use the EnGrip Extension to chronicle your learning activities.

You can start seeding your learning interests which will be saved under General Learning section.

Alternatively, you can create projects based on your learning interests.

Let’s say you create projects for 'visual design', 'copy editing', or 'customer engagement’.

Once this is done, every time you do something related to your project online, our plug-in will remind you to chronicle the experience. If you prefer, you can grip the content. Or, ignore it. The choice is all yours!

In case, if you choose to save the activity, you can add them to your respective projects. Or, you can simply mark it as ‘General Learning Time’.

The extension will track the time spent on a particular subject as well as the different projects you are learning at the given point in time. These two measures will form the basis on your learning record.

Don’t worry. EnGrip never saves anything without your command.

Technically speaking, the EnGrip extension communicates with the server only when you allow it by pressing the SAVE button. The extension only sends Source(url), matching topics & selected projects of your learning. So even if you are learning something of your subject interest, but prefer to ignore a particular website for a browsing session, it’s well and good. You have the option to do it.

Remember, EnGrip only keeps reminding you when you browse something of your subject interest so you don’t miss to chronicle the learning experience. Saving it or ignoring it is entirely up to you!

Yep. You cannot edit or delete a grip. But you can change the visibility of a grip from public to private.

Yes. It’s absolutely, totally, & entirely free!

YOUR NITTY-GRITTY QUESTIONS.

The process of chronicling your learning experience using the EnGrip Extension is called gripping. The added content is called Grips. And we’d like to call you, our beloved user, as an EnGripper. ☺

Basically, a Grip contains information about the learning undertaken such as the source URL, topics covered, time you spend for learning, and project details.

It’s basically a browser button. Using this, you can chronicle your learning experiences—easily and efficiently.

It offers a gamut of benefits. Please visit our Home Page to know more about how it is helpful for your career growth and learning activities. Also, check out Why EnGrip page. Or, simply email us and we will explain things in person.

Visit our extension settings page.

You will be asked to sign into the application, if you haven't already. Once you are logged in, you will find the following on

  1. Add following topic(s) - Mandatory
    • Please enter the topics that describe your learning interests, like 'software design', 'video editing', 'php' or 'JavaScript'.
    • This will help EnGrip Extension to identify your online learning sessions. And with your permission it will chronicle your learning activity.

Please note that to start using EnGrip Extension, you need to add at least one topic.
  2. Add following website(s) – Optional
    • To get the best out of EnGrip, please enter the website URL(s) that you visit to learn about your profession or interests, like techcrunch.com, stackoverflow.com, or w3schools.com.
    • EnGrip Extension will check the pages that you visit and when you are on one of your most frequented sites, it will ask if you'd like to capture your learning.

Note: If you have already signed in, a blue e will appear on the browser extension. If you haven’t logged in, orange e will appear on the browser extension.

You can chronicle your learning experiences using the EnGrip Extension in two ways:

  1. Setting EnGrip Extension
  2. Add Manually through EnGrip Extension

Setting EnGrip Extension

  • Please refer to How to start using the EnGrip Extension above.
  • When EnGrip Extension finds out that you are on a page of your learning interest, it will prompt you for permission to track the learning.
  • If you agree, you will be able to enter more details for this learning experience, such as who can see your learning and which project it's for.
  • Finally, click on "Save" button to grip the learning entry.

Add Manually

  • Click on the EnGrip icon: a blue "e" next to the address bar of your browser.
  • You will be presented with a menu to enter more details for this learning experience, such as who can see your learning and which project it's for.
  • When you add a topic to your learning interests, you will be automatically notified for any future learning matching this topic.
  • Finally, click the "Save" button to add the learning entry.
  • We advise you update your extension settings with your latest learning interests. So EnGrip Extension can prompt you whenever you visit a page of interest. This will prevent any loss of data by removing the need to manually save learning experiences.

Certainly, it’s not necessary!

You need to visit our website only to modify your extension settings, view your Knowledge Profile, or explore your community.

However, you must be signed in to grip your learning through the EnGrip extension.

If you can’t find a Grip for a topic while searching, it is quite possible that no one has gripped any learning matching that topic. Besides, you are using EnGrip beta version with limited users. So, just go ahead and grip the topics even if it is not available on search. It will certainly help other users too.

Yes, you can!

And that’s not all. When you add a topic to your learning interests, you will be automatically notified for any future learning matching this topic.

Yep. You cannot edit or delete a grip. But you can change the visibility of a grip from public to private.

This might be because of two reasons:

  1. You are not signed in to EnGrip. Click on the white "e" in orange background next to the address bar of your browser and sign in again.
  2. EnGrip extension searches the meta section of a visited page to match your learning interests. So, if the page you doesn’t have any mention of your learning interests in its meta section, then you might not get an alert.

But remember, you can manually grip a topic by clicking on the EnGrip icon: blue "e" next to the address bar of your browser.

To grip your learning, you need to install a browser extension.

Currently, we have this extension available only for Chrome (version 54 and above), Mozilla Firefox (version 49 and above), and Opera ( version 41 and above).

Also, our extensions don’t work on the mobile version of these browsers.

So if you are using your mobile, you will get the same alert. But don’t worry! Very soon, we shall make EnGrip compatible with mobile devices too. Just bear this inconvenience for now.

Sorry, without installing the EnGrip extension, you cannot create grips and chronicle your learning experiences.

  • Navigate to your ‘Knowledge Profile Page’ page by signing in to the application if you haven't already signed in. Click on the "EnGrip" brand logo on the top left corner.
  • On your "Profile" band, click on the "Camera" icon at the top of your profile picture.
  • A new modal window will appear showing options for choosing a picture.
  • You can upload a new image from your local device.
    1. Click on "Browse" to select an image from local device.
    2. Click "Save" to save the image as your profile image.
  • Once the server responds with the change-status, you may click 'Close' to close the window.

Note: For uploading an image, the image must meet the following criteria:

  1. Image must be larger than 80 pixels width by 80 pixels height.
  2. Image must be smaller than 512 pixels width by 512 pixels height.
