The project is"digital speedometer and odometer using arduino".Normally, digital speedometers are found only in luxury cars and high-end motorbikes. Even if your motorbike has a mechanical speedometer, what will you do when it gets damaged? First, you need to replace the mechanical worn gear and then the cable. Here we describe how to build using speedometer-cum-odometer for your motorbike. The circuit uses an Arduino, an LCD display, ultrasonic sensor and some commonly available components. It is a better alternative to the mechanical speedometer and even a beginner with minimal skill level can assemble it. To display the speed and distance travelled, we have used a 16X4 alphanumeric LCD module. There are other ways/sensors to measure the speed but, using a Hall sensor is cheap and also can be used on any type of motor/vehicle. Arduino monitors the speed and ultrasonic sensors are to measure the distance in range with 2-400 cms with accuracy of 3mm, so as to prevent the accidents. A hall sensor is a device which can detect the presence of a magnet based on its polarity. calculate the time taken for one complete rotation of the wheel.
